Rustic Thonburi Food Tour & Canal Boat Adventure
This tour combines the most 2 popular travel activities in Bangkok, food tasting and canal excursion! Thonburi is a neighborhood of Bangkok. It’s located just across the city’s urban area on the Chao Phraya river but remains unbelievably rustic and even rural. There are numerous canals which the locals traverse instead of using roads. So a visit to Thonburi is like taking a time-machine back into time.
The tour will take you to Thonburi’s most famous eateries located along canals and in traditional wet markets. You’ll taste delicious granny recipes like beef and meatball soup, pork Kway Jab (rolled rice noodle soup), traditional Thai desserts, vegetable dumplings, and various dishes of Northeastern Thai (Issan) cuisine, and experience slow-pacing lifestyle unaffected by Bangkok’s hectic lives.
Thonburi was a capital of Thailand for 15 years before Bangkok rose. So the over-2-century neighborhood offers several spectacular ancient sites which are also highlights of the tour. During the fun boat ride via canals, you can see rustic wooden stilt houses, the locals chilling out and going about their daily activities without any hastes. And among several fascinating things you can see from the boat, there might be a monitor lizard! En-route is the peaceful Artist’s House, a laid-back hub of art lovers. Rustic Thonburi Food Tour & Canal Boat Adventure is a great getaway for half a day from the bustles and hustles of Bangkok.

Every Smiling Tuk Tuk ™ tour has been designed with an emphasis on supporting and distributing incomes in local communities. This tour brings you to small eateries, so via us, you can support small local business – another source of income they are very happy to have. Likewise for long-tail boat drivers. They earn little income daily. While popular among foreign tourists, their Thai passengers are becoming less in number. But since most of them are unable to speak English, without a translation help, they can't get foreign customers. Their service to you helps to increase their income significantly.
